Peter Salter, Senior Research Historian

The Research Institute for Hawaii USA is pleased to announce that Peter Salter has joined the Institute staff as Senior Research Historian.

Salter received undergraduate and graduate degrees from Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. He spent twenty years teaching on the collegiate level at Pennsylvania State and University of Hawaii at Manoa. While teaching at the University of Hawaii, Mr. Salter was honored with the Mortar Board Society's Faculty Recognition Award, selecting him as one of fifteen outstanding teachers throughout the University of Hawaii system in 1992. Previously, he served as the Senior Resident Historian at the Mission Houses Museum, in Honolulu, Hawaii, where he was employed for the last 13 years.
